“IQRA” is an Arabic term which means to read. The IQRA project is to teach Arabic and Islamic Studies which is taught in English. The aim is by the end of the course students can read, write and speak Arabic; in a friendly, fun and safe environment.
Classes take place at Spring Hill Community Centre between Monday to Friday from 4.30 to 8.30pm. A vital component of the programme is parents. All parents will be encouraged to take a positive and active role in their child’s learning and facilitate with the weekly home work.
Essential information
Classes:
Children Classes - Each day 4 classes run consecutively from 4.30 for one hour. There are up to 12 children in each class. To give maximum benefit, class sizes have been kept to a minimum and short teaching time to keep children concentration high after a long day at school Adults Classes - Every Monday at 7.30 is men's adult Arabic classes and every Tuesday at 7.30 is women's adult Arabic classes. Hifz Classes - There is a separate class for the memorisation of the Quran. There are currently 4 students in this class with a qualified qari teacher. This class is for 3 hours a day. Health & Fitness Classes - Every Wednesday there is a health and fitness classes for children. Junior boys is at 6.30 and senior boys classes are at 7.30.

Each day’s lesson will start with reading the Quran, followed by one of the above subject.
Uniform:
All parents will be asked to ensure that their children will observe the above dress code.
Charitable Donations:
IQRA is a non-profit charity; we
endeavour to keep costs to a minimum whilst ensuring all expenses are
covered. IQRA is financed by tuition fees, charitable donations and
individual who sponsor children. Please fill a Gift Aid declaration for
all your donations if you are working.
The fees per child is £300 for the full
academic year, and includes admin charge, for books and learning
material. All fees are non-refundable. Fees will need to be paid, even
if the child is away on holiday during class time. You can make payment
by a cheque payable to “Safa Trust” for the full amount or make monthly
payments by direct debit.
Teacher:
At IQRA we strive to have the best teachers. It is difficult and hard to find teachers who can speak fluent English, Arabic and are qualified in Islamic Studies. All our teachers are CRB cleared. We will also support our teachers to do a PETL training course.
Annual Educational Trips:
IQRA organises an annual educational trip abroad. Previously, we have organised trips to Spain, Egypt, Umrah and last year we went to Istanbul in Turkey. For 2012, we will be going to Marrakesh and Casablanca in Morocco at the end of term holidays in April.
