About Safa Trust

Safa Trust has been setup to formally incorporate two long established projects.  The first is Youth Empowerment, formerly knows as Ethnic Youth Enterprise, which was setup in Jan 2000.  It started with 10 youths playing indoor football, which quickly expanded to over 150 youths participating in 5-a-side, 7-a-side, 11-a-side football, junior/senior cricket teams, squash, badminton and camping trips to Snowdon and Ben Nevis

In a questionnaire done by EYE in 2004, a need for Arabic reading, writing, speaking and Islamic Studies taught in English was identified.  This second project called IQRA was started in 30 Oct 2006 with 30 children.  Over the years the project has gone from strength to strength, with currently 168 children.   The project incorporates health and fitness classes and have organised educational trips to Spain, Egypt and Turkey.

The vision is to setup a nursery and make Safa Trust self-sustainable in the long run.  This will be done by working in partnership with community groups, parents and volunteers.

Mission Statement

To encourage and facilitate initiatives and programmes that will empower young people.  These will develop and enhance their skills, capacity and motivation to become directly involved in their personal development.

This will be done by building the capacity of the whole community through network partnership to add value and sustain local change.
